Local Spaniard David Ferrer Moves On To Madrid Semi Final
David Ferrer, spaniard and fellow competitor, outlasted Richard Gasquet in straight sets to leap past the fourth round in the Madrid 2012 Open. Richard Gasquet defeated No. 4 Andy Murray to accelerate through the third round only to be encountered with a warm upset by strong headed opponent David Ferrer.
David Ferrer amounted a great task in beating all his previous opponents of the Madrid Open in straight sets. The final score of the untimely match with Richard Gasquet was 7-6(4), (6-3). With this win, David Ferrer moves on to his second Madrid semi-final, however this time he will have to play No. 2 Spaniard and fan favorite Rafael Nadal. Rafael Nadal has lost only a handful of times on his beloved ornage clay court. Ferrer will have to play his heart out only to keep up with the wicked lefty, it would be quite astonishing if Ferrer takes even one set against the great Rafael Nadal.

Agnieszka Radwanska Outlasts Maria Sharapova in Sony Ericsson Women's Singles Final
Representing Russia, although having lived in the US, let alone here in Florida since the age of 3, no. 2 seed Maria Sharapova was yet again unable to win a final here in the Sony Ericsson, Key Biscayne stadium. Sharapova lost in straight sets to no. 5 seed Agnieszka Radwanska, with an unfortunate but close, final score of 7-5, 6-4. Maria will be forced to immediate yet another year being 0-4 in winning a Sony Ericsson Open final. An obvious crowd favorite, her loss was disheartening to those deicated fans including myself. Sharapova has been loved since her early age upsets in Wimbledon and the French Open including the memorable moment she fought to overcome American sister, Serena Williams.Maria Sharapova accumulated an unnecessary, disfortunate amount of unforced errors in the duration of this championship match. Sharapova practically handed her opponent the match by either forcing numerous shots barely wide of the in-bounds lines or catching the net at critical game moments. On the other hand, her less powerful opponent, Ms. Radwanska was able to escape with an Open title, taking the match with less than ten winners.
On the bright side, Maria will earn a pretty sum of approximately half a million dollars for arriving to the Sony Ericsson championship match, even though as the score demonstrates, she never really did show up.
